Two new species of Caloptilia (Lepidoptera, Gracillariidae) from New Caledonia inducing galls on Glochidion billardierei (Phyllanthaceae) and redescription of C. xanthopharella (Meyrick, 1880)
Cette étude décrit deux nouvelles espèces de Caloptilia induisant des galles en Nouvelle-Calédonie, révèle leur biologie unique et apporte des preuves d’une possible spéciation sympatrique au sein d’un même hôte. Elle double le nombre connu de gracillariidés induisant des galles et met en évidence à la fois la diversité sous-explorée et l’importance du Parc des Grandes Fougères en matière de conservation.

Origin of gall-inducing from leaf-mining in Caloptilia micromoths (Lepidoptera, Gracillariidae)
The description of the life-style of the Gracillariid Caloptilia cecidophora revealed that its larvae start by making a leaf-mine before to induce a gall. The modification on larval instars number and growth rate suggest a strong evolutionary pressure towards the reduction of the duration of the leaf-mining phase.

Inside the horn of plenty: Leaf-mining micromoth manipulates its host plant to obtain unending food provisioning
Similarly to galls, the leaf-mining moth Borboryctis euryae is capable to induce a constant renewal of the plant tissues within its leaf-mine, allowing its larvae to extend their feeding period within the mine.
